fodder, reality star, yes. But Paris Hilton the singer? As she promotes her new album, "Paris," Hilton says she understands the confusion over her transformation. But she urges a look past the stereotypes. "I can understand people prejudging on that fact," she said Tuesday outside Specs Music Store on South Beach, "but the music speaks for itself." Hilton, 25, will release "Paris" on Tuesday. Her breathy single, "Stars Are Blind," has already jumped up Billboard's dance music charts. It may seem a departure from what has made her famous, including the TV reality show "The Simple Life," but Hilton says music has always been a passion. "I've been singing and playing the piano and violin since I'm 6 years old," she said, "so it's something I've been doing my whole life." Hilton said she is confident of the album's appeal. "I know music," she said, "so I know people will love it." Hilton said she finds herself in an unusual position for an artist releasing her first album. "Most artists, you know, they're unknown before they actually have their album come out," she said. "And with me, it's a different situation because people have seen me around for the past couple of years." (AP) |

Paris Hilton Says Debut Album Is So Good It Has Made Her "Cry"
August 22, 2006 by exposay.com Paris Hilton's self-titled debut album is being released on Tuesday -and it has already gotten her all choked up. The hotel heiress claims her album is so good it made her cry. The socialite-turned-actress-turned-singer admits she was reduced to tears when she first heard her finished debut album in its entirety. However, Paris is so paranoid about music piracy she never tells people when her tracks are being played in clubs, so they can't be put on the internet for free. She told Blender magazine, "I, like, cry when I listen to it, because it's so good. Everyone's like, 'Who is this?' I don't tell. Because I don't want someone putting their phone up and recording it and making a ringtone off of it." The 25-year-old also keeps quiet when her music is playing in clubs so she can get a realistic reaction from the crowd. Paris explained, "I think when people don't know it's me, they won't judge it. But if they know it's me, then they'll be like, 'Ugh.' They won't even dance." The blonde actress also thinks people get the wrong idea of who she really is. She explained, "I think people expect me to be this b***h snob, but I'm really nice, and I feel bad if I'm mean. I'm always playing a character. I don't talk like this really-like a baby. I don't act like myself in public, because I don't really want to show everyone the real me. Because I have no privacy whatsoever, the only thing I have is who I really am." |
