About Work, Friends, And Boys.

ELLEgirl:  Was it a conscious decision to enter the limelight?

Paris Hilton:  It just happened.

EG:  What do you consider your breakout moment?

PH:  When I moved to New York in 1996.  That's when people started to pay attention, and Nicky and I were on Page Six every day.

EG:  What was it like living at the Waldorf-Astoria?

PH:  It was like being Eloise and running around having lots of fun.  There were always so many different people showing up, and the presidents stayed there.

EG:  What was high school like for you?

PH:  I was never academic.  It was about hanging out with my friends.  I wish that I studied harder.

EG:  Does it bother you when you get bad press?  Because it seems like you really don't care!

PH:  When I was younger, it would hurt my feelings.  I'm used to it now.  I know it's some writer who doesn't know me.  They are not my friend and I don't care what they think.  I don't even read what they write.  I just look at the pictures.

EG:  What stresses you out?

PH:  Work and boys.

EG:  How do you deal?

PH:  I work every single day, so I have to suck it up.  Even though I might not feel like it, I have to.  With boys, when I was younger they used to stress me out, but I've learned not to let it get to me.

EG:  What's an average day like for you now?

PH:  I never have an average day.  Every day is different.  I'll have a photo shoot or I'll be working on a movie or a commercial.  I don't really have any free time anymore.  My schedule is full until I don't even know when.  I love it, though.  Working makes me feel good.  I love getting things done.

EG:  What are your priorities?

PH:  My priorities are Tinkerbell, my work, my family, my friends, my health and my life.

EG:  What makes a good friend?

PH:  Someone who is honest.  Someone who tells me if they don't like what I'm wearing.  Someone who wouldn't lie to me.  Most of my friends I've had most of my life.

EG:  How do you weed out the good from the bad?

PH:  I'll test them by telling them something and seeing if it will get out.  If it gets out, I know that it was them.  Or I'll try on two different outfits and see which one the person tells me to wear.  A lot of girls will pick the one that looks worse.  That's how you know who your real friends are.

EG:  Who do you turn to when you have something on your mind?

PH:  I talk to my mom and my sister about everything.  They are the people I trust the most.

EG:  Who gives the best advice?

PH:  My mom gives the best advice.  My mom is really young.  She basically had me when she was 21.  She's more of a sister to me.

ParisHilton!  Paris Hilton A Quote

The only person who really knows me is Nicky.  And not many people know this, but my sister is one of the funniest people you'll ever meet.  I was 3, an only kid, and I remember getting really excited when I found out my mom was pregnant.  I hoped it would be a girl. ParisHilton! Then and Now!

December 3, 2003

Before "A Simple Life" star PARIS HILTON and her younger sister NICKY were socialites extraordinaire, they were just your run-of-the-mill kids growing up in a Beverly Hills mansion outfitted with a swimming pool, tennis court and golf course!

"We had the most extravagant birthdays," says the 22-year-old Paris. "My mother was insane with the parties. We'd have a carnival with animals, trains and petting zoos." The birthday bashes took place in the oversized backyard so the bumper cars had enough room to maneuver!

"Everybody would talk about the parties the rest of the year at school," says Paris.

The white stone, 14- or 15-bedroom (the blonde duo weren't sure on the exact number) abode encompasses a putting green, where the girls would sometimes get into mischief!

"When we were little Nicky and I would get in so much trouble because we'd play golf," says Paris. ("We attempted to play golf," Nicky clarifies). "We'd hit the ball so hard we'd make holes in the grass." [ET]
