PurityScan is an adware. It scans
your computer for pornographic files and generates number of
targeted or untargeted pop-up ads when browsing Web sites.
PurityScan has an automatic update feature and may install third
party products.
Follow these steps to remove PurityScan from
your machine. Begin by backing up your registry and your system,
and/or setting a Restore Point, to prevent trouble if you make a
mistake.
- Kill these running processes with Task
Manager:
programfilesdir+\purityscan\purityscan.exe
systemroot+\system32\winservn.exe
ps_uninstaller.exe
purityscan2.exe
winservn.exe
- Remove AutoRun Reference: Go to the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
- Remove these registry items (if present) with
RegEdit:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\contentservice
- Remove these files (if present) with Windows
Explorer:
programfilesdir+\purityscan\purityscan.exe
systemroot+\system32\winservn.exe
ps_uninstaller.exe
purityscan2.exe
winservn.exe
- Remove these directories (if present) with
Windows Explorer:
profilepath+\menu start\programma's\purityscan
profilepath+\start menu\programs\purityscan
programfilesdir+\purityscan
